Solo had the opportunity this year to host the international event World Toilet Summit 2013, which took place on 2 to 4 October 2013 in the The Sunan Hotel Solo. This event took WTS Indonesian Toilet Association ( ATI ) and is fully supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy , the Ministry of Public Works,and of course Solo City Government itself .
World Toilet Summit 2013 is an annual event that addresses the hygiene, health, sanitation and toilet global importance.The program will enter the 13th year the organizers will be filled with various events such as Summit Session, Training On Trainers, Exhibition, Social Programs and the World Toilet Carnival.With the theme "Rural Meets Urban Sanitation", this event aims to discuss about the planning and procurement system sound better sanitation and decent .
In Indonesia, the current clean and healthy sanitation facilities can be enjoyed only approximately 55 % of the population only. Through Toitel World Summit 2013 is expected to be no solution for the creation of a healthy and decent sanitation. Chosen as the location of Solo WTS 2013 because the city is the only city of the most active responding and intensified sanitation issues . Not only that, through this activity,Solo city government also had the opportunity to introduce the arts,culture and tourism.
World Toilet Summit to date has been held in ten countries including Singapore,South Korea,Taiwan, China,Ireland,Russia,Thailand,India,United States and South Africa .
World Toilet Summit 2013,produced five commitments contained in the "Solo Declaration " .
First,build and strengthen cooperation on global, national and regionaldalam activities related to sanitation and health,including research and development
Second,updating,reviewing,and implementing effective national policies that impact sanitation positive for sanitation and health -related activities in urban and rural
Third,develop a national sanitation policy by considering the context it cultural,religious and socio - economic,as well as the needs of specific groups including urban and rural communities,women, children,the elderly and the disabled.
Fourth,encourage and empower people to be people no longer practicing open defecation ( BABS ) through various sanitation and health programs .
Fifth,improve the quality of the toilet,the toilet either private or communal toilet,urban and rural,as well as various other public places .
